Ocean Township High School Ice Hockey

Ocean Ice Hockey will be at the upcoming Fall Fest celebration taking place Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Joe Palaia Park (Deal Test Site – Whalepond Road at Deal Road). It begins at 10am and ends at 4pm, and will feature crafters, vendors, food, music, and activities for kids. For more information about the event, visit the Ocean Township website.

Come see the Ocean H.S. Ice Hockey booth at the Ocean Township Italian-American Festival through Sunday 8/14 and learn more about our pay-to-play program. Also, take a shot at our goalie for a chance to win prizes.

Congratulations to departing senior Captain Cory Zimmel on making the 14th annual Shore Conference High School Hockey All-Star Team. The game, presented by Jim Dowd’s Shoot For The Stars Foundation, was played today at The Red Bank Armory, with all proceeds going to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Ocean Ice Hockey’s Spring League team wrapped up it’s season in a tournament this weekend at the Wall Sports Arena. The team had a 4-4 record heading into the tournament and split its two tournament games on Saturday, but could not survive the final cut to make the championship game on Sunday. Thanks to all team members for their efforts in this protracted season.

Congratulations to all five of our seniors were nominated for both the Shore Conference Senior game and the All-Shore awards. Of the group, Corey Zimmel, Talon Ribsam and Devon Ribsam were selected to play in the game, and were also chosen for All-Shore honors. Come out to the game and show your support!

Ocean Ice Hockey wrapped up a record-breaking regular season with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Pt Pleasant Boro. The victory in their last regular home game gave the Spartans a 13-5-5 record in only their second season of play, two wins better than last year’s 11-7-3, and clinched second place in the Shore D Conference. The team will now move on to the Shore Conference Playoffs and the State Playoffs.

Milestones reached along the way included head coach Dave Smith’s 100th high school victory, and senior and scoring leader Corey Zimmel’s 100th career point. The team also reached records in attendance for home games at the Wall ice arena, and thanks Ocean Township and Shore Regional students for their enthusiastic support.

Seniors Corey Zimmel, Devon Ribsam, Talon Ribsam, Vinnie White and Dan Wotton have all been nominated for the Shore Conference All-Star team. Congratulations to them – and now, on to the playoffs!

Asbury Park Fire Fighter Jason Fazio was critically injured on January 10th, while fighting a fire on Main Street in Asbury Park. He is a true hero who put his life on the line for his community.
